The Free State premier, MaQueen Letsoha-Mathae, hosted a career expo today at Kopano Indoor Sports Centre in Welkom on Tuesday, 4 March.
The event attracted close to 2 000 young job seekers and was aimed at providing guidance, encouragement and access to career opportunities through the participation of various government departments and private companies. The youth had the chance of exploring different career paths, gain valuable information, and engage with stakeholders who could assist them in their job seeking journey.
The police’s Provincial Communication and Recruitment team played a vital role by providing insight into careers within the police service. They guided attendees on the necessary qualifications, application processes, and various opportunities available in the police. Their presence allowed youths to ask questions and better understand what a career in the police entails, helping to address concerns and inspire those interested in joining.
Letsoha-Mathae visited the police’s stall and expressed interest in the impact of the participation and general questions raised by the youths. She engaged with the team to explore ways of improving access to police careers and better support aspiring candidates. Her involvement highlighted the government’s commitment to empowerment and career development, ensuring that young people receive the necessary support and guidance in their pursuit of meaningful employment.
