The Free State Department of Education has launched a campaign against racism, bullying, sexism and antisocial behaviour in schools across the Free State.
This comes in the wake of alleged incidents at three schools in the Lejweleputswa District: the Wessel Maree High School in Odendaalsrus, the Dagbreek Primary School in Welkom and the Bothaville High School.
According to Howard Ndaba, spokesperson for the department, this crusade will first target former model C schools in the province.
Dr Tate Makgoe, MEC for education, along with senior departmental officials, met at the Welkom Technical High School on Tuesday (15/03).
The meeting was attended by, among others, principals, deputy principals and governing bodies of all the former model C schools in the district.
Following the learning loss incurred due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the department will also use this campaign to implore learners to attend school every day.
