The Rotary Club of Welkom Flamingo held a successful Eradicate Polio Campaign at the Goldfields Mall in Welkom on Saturday, 21 October.
This was the second year that the club raised funds for this noble cause.
The fundraiser took the form of donations received towards discharging “patients” from a mock iron lung.
Several prominet Welkomites and business people were roped in the lie in the “lung” for half an hour while pledges were received on their behalf.
The group who dedicated their time to this honourable venture were: Francois Malan (Podbielski Attorneys), Sunette Jooste (Sunette Jooste Attorneys), Marti Will (Vista), Jeanette Wessels (ex-Flamingo Rotarian), Jan Jacobs (Move 1 Million), lan Buchanan (President – Flamingo Rotary), Thato Moloi (Goldfields Sunset Rotary), Eddie Nakeli (Community Peace Corps Worker) and Devon Burger (Conversations Coffee Shop).
In excess of R16 000 was collected for this worthy cause.
