As part of the ongoing police action, Operation uMgodi in the Free State, the police arrested a 31-year-old male for dealing in drugs in Dagbreek, Welkom.
On Sunday, 20 October, the suspect was found in possession of 13 small bankies or zip lock plastics containing dried dagga leaves.
A case of dealing in dagga was opened at the Welkom Police Station.
On the same day a man whose home had been robbed stopped police members in Odendaalsrus and requested them to help in finding his stolen property.
They followed-up leads in Kutlwanong and a stolen Hisense 54 inch television, home theater surround music system and blankets were recovered in a house in K5 in Kutlwanong.
The police also arrested the 39-year-old male for possession of presumably stolen property.
In Welkom on 19 October, members of Crime Intelligence followed-up information about a female drug dealer operating from a house in Dagbreek.
The Welkom Anit Gang Unit operationalised the information and caught a suspected buyer redhanded after he had bought a small packet of CAT drug.
He tried to run away, but the 30-year-old male was arrested and he showed the police where he bought the drugs.
An African woman was found and her premises were searched. They found five big packets of CAT drug blocks, and two small packets of CAT drug blocks, which weighed 526, 22 grams with the street value of R158 000.
They also seized R24 940 cash from 27-year-old woman. She was arrested for possession and dealing in drugs.
In Bronville on 19 October members of the Public Order Policing, District Operational Command Centre and members of Bronville Visible Policing led by Capt. Francois Odendal were busy with Visible Policing.
In an attempt to curb substance and liquor abuse, they did stop and search duties in Golding Street, Bronville.
“A group of men were busy smoking hubbly bubbly and using pipes when Const. Pieter Strydom noticed one of them standing up and looked suspicious and when he was approached. The following drugs were found in his possession: 19 bags of Crystal Meth, 18 halves and five full Mandrax tablets.,” says Capt. Stephen Thakeng, media liaison officer for the Lejweleputswa police.
A 31-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of suspected drugs.
