A young woman from Phomolong, Hennenman, is a finalist in the Miss Teen Universe South Africa competition.
Vanessa Lempe (19), born and bred in Phomolong, grew up to be passionate about community development.
This commitment to her community made pageantry close to her heart as this platforms gives her the power to bring about positive change in the communities.
Lempe is not new to the world of pageantry and has a long list of titles to her name, which includes Miss Rehlotse Pre-School 2009. She is the reigning Miss Public Choice Kroonstad and Miss Charity Kroonstad 2023-’24.
Through her love of pageantry, she was able to open her first project: Miss Phomolong. “I want girls from my community to get the same opportunities I am. Opportunities are limited in our community and this project is about empowering the youth.
“I have also started a second project called the VZ Lempe foundation to help the needy and to determine different problems faced by the youth and how to overcome them. I want to empower the youth,” says Vanessa.
