The police are looking for the mother of a newborn baby girl found dead near a dog kennel at a house in Thabong, on Sunday, 24 September.
Thabong police have since submitted a request to the community to help find the mother of the newborn.
On the day, police were summoned to a house in Thabong, where they met with the owner of the house who told them about a baby he found lying motionless next to the dog kennel. He wrapped the baby up and informed the police.
Emergency medical services (EMS) personnel were summoned and the newborn baby was certified dead.
A postmortem examination revealed that the baby was strangled. The police are therefore looking for the child’s mother, who might be able to assist in the investigation.
