An extensive Cancer Awareness Day was held in Rheedrpark/Phomolong Village on 2 May. Gustav Mokgothu, a respected community worker in Lejweleputswa and one of the organisers of the event says it was a major success and well attended. Co-operating organisations that were represented included SASSA, the SAPS and Social Development. Sister Masebatsa Molele, a well-known and beloved figure in the community, taught Cancer awareness. Instrumental in making the day a success was Setshego Abrams (director of Corporate Servics at Lejweleputswa District Municipality). Councillor Estelle Dansey also supprotd the event. “The day was funded solely by the organisers. Our event was blessed and there was ample food for everyone, so much so that we were able to also give to the unemplyed that sit on Wlkom’s streets waiting to be hired,” says Mokgothu. Poeople who played a significant role include Shooter Malawu and Pastor Koos Koos.

Sr Masebatsa Molele, a well-known and beloved figure in the community, taught cancer awareness, focusing on increasing knowledge and understanding of cancer, its prevention, early detection, and treatment options.

Instrumental in making the day a success was Setshego Abrams, director of Corporate Servics at the Lejweleputswa District Municipality.

Cllr Estelle Dansey, ward 35 councillor, also supported the event.
