The sound of an explosion alerted the Allanridge police to the bombing of an ATM in the town.

The police was on routine patrol on 16 November at about 02:07 when they heard what sounded like a bomb exploding in the direction of the taxi rank. The incident happend just after loadshedding.

On their arrival, at a bottle store they found that the ATM had been completely destroyed by the bomb and its contents had been robbed.

The police found R100 and R50 notes stained with an ink lying scattered all over the area.

According to an eye witness, six unknown men with a maroon Toyota Tazz with an unknown registration number were seen at the scene. They drove off after the incident.
