Welkom Police arrested a 32-year-old man in the CBD in possession of ARV’s worth R18 000

The Welkom Police arrested a 32-year-old man in the CBD in possession of ARV’s worth R18 000.

On Thursday (07/05), members of the Welkom Flying Squad received a tip-off about an unknown male African person selling drugs near the Matjhabeng municipal offices. When the suspect saw the police, he tried to flee but, they gave chase and he was arrested.

Tip-off from public leads to arrest

When the man was searched and the police found 36 containers of Atroiza. The suspect appeared in the Welkom Magitrates Court on Monday and his case has been postponed to 18 May for bail application.

“The members of Flying Squad are applauded for responding instantly to information given by residents of Welkom who are sick and tired of drugs. Residents are thanked for trusting the SAPS members with information which led to this seizure of drugs and arrest and the arrest,” says Brig. Motantsi Makhele, Free State SAPS Communication.
