A local art student, Ryan Martin (17), won top international accolades in the Talent Africa national competition in the Creative Works department with his photography.

He is a Gr. 12 learner of the Brainline Online School.

Ryan was awarded two golden awards and also won the award for best concept.

He was one of the top five students in the senior category for Performing Arts in South Africa. With this, Ryan qualified to represent South Africa at the Stars of the Universe international competition. He obtained his national colours and his entries won two golden awards in the international competition.

He also won the title of 2024’s best creative works in the world. For this he presented a series of photos using the light painting technique and a series of photos of the Gamtoos river in the Eastern Cape.

Although Ryan has won many awards in the last four years, photography is just something he does in his spare time. Ryan is a student of Lana Combrinck, owner and founder of the ARTC school in Virginia, an artistic company that offers art lessons for children and adults.
