The inaugural Vuka Arts Free State Unveils the Creatives Summit is expected to showcase talent from across the province’s five regions.

The summit is scheduled to take place in Welkom for three days, starting on 8 December and concluding on 10 December.

The highly anticipated Creatives Summit, envisaged as a ground-breaking event, is set to bring together the most talented and visionary artists from Thabo Mofutsanyana, Le­jweleputswa, Fezile Dabi, Mangaung and Xhariep.

The Creatives Summit will serve as a celebration of artistic excellence, innovation, and collaboration.

This unique gathering will feature representatives from the realms of dance, visual arts, music, fashion and film, showcasing the diverse and vibrant creative tapestry of the Free State.

Vuka Arts Free State through Creatives Summit has opened the doors to emerging artists and seasoned professionals, inviting 20 individuals from each of the five districts to participate in this landmark event.

Vusani Sihlangu, executive director of Vuka Arts Free State, said that they are thrilled to bring together the best and brightest from across the Free State.

“The arts are the cornerstone of society and the economy of the country so must be given a chance to shine and prosper,” said Sihlangu.

Vuka Arts Free State is a pioneering organisation dedicated to empowering and uplifting artists across the Free State region. Through education, support, and opportunities.

It aims to cultivate a vibrant and inclusive arts community, driving the growth and recognition of local talent.

The summit will feature a diverse range of activities, including workshops, panel discussions, performances, and networking oppor­tunities, all designed to foster creativity, skill development, and meaningful con­nections among participants.

“The chosen representatives are the epitome of talent and dedication within their respective artistic categories and are chosen through a rigorous selection process based on merit” said Sihlangu.

Big role players in their respective fields will impart knowledge of their chosen careers to the masses. They include Dr Khotso Nkgatho, who has been in films and television and is best known as Mopheme; Percy Vilakazi, a scriptwriter for popular TV shows like The River; Presss, who has been in music since they won Coca Cola Pop Stars; and Somizi.
