As part of its youth development and job creation projects, Ziyaduma Arts Promotions invites school and unemployed youth interested in acting to take part in its plays. Acting experience is not necessary, as training is offered.
“The plays are intended to be staged in different Matjhabeng venues, communities, and schools from April,” says Saduma Miya, founder of Ziyaduma Arts Promotions.
Rehearsals started on Monday, 12 February, at the Lejweleputswa Arts and Culture Centre behind the Thabong community centre.
“The projects are not funded, and through them we encourage the youth to explore and use their talents to earn a living,” says Miya.
Partnerships with various stakeholders can make this a reality.
The planned projects will include awareness programmes about crime, health, education and substance abuse, as well as gender-based violence (GBV).
Ziyaduma Arts also focuses on charity concerts for old age clubs, orphanages as well as the disabled.
The Kgotsong Old Age Club will be the first to benefit on 6 April. This programme is aimed at motivating and mobilising youths to be fully involved in community development.
“We establish and promote cultural groups, and we focus on Thabong East and West, Reitzpark, and Phomolong in Hennenman. Those who need assistance in running or establishing cultural groups are welcome. We request councillors to help and make this programme possible,” says Miya.
