The Lejweleputswa District Municipality’s executive mayor, Veronica Ntakumbana, celebrated International Elderly Day, occurring on 1 October annually, with the elderly from different districts.

As such, she organised a spa day for elderly people on 19 October.

The were ten residents chosen from the five local municipalities.

Ntakumbana stated that she is thankful for the assistance she received in making the event a success.

Alongside her was the acting mayor of the Tswelopele Local Municipality, Mantso Radienyane, the MMC for infrastructure at the Lejweleputswa District Municipality, Mzonakele Baleni, and Nolwazi Nkeane, head of Free State and Northern Cape sectors for Standard Bank.

“I would like to extend my gratitude to Mr Lereko Marumo from the Phekong Wellness Centre for the herbal therapy ointments, and Standard Bank for contributing 50 blankets, seeds for planting, and garden tools to the elderly.” said Ntakumbana.
