A memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the Lejweleputswa District Municipality and the Goldfields Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) College in Welkom has been resuscitated in Women’s Month by the executive mayor, Veronica Ntakumbana.
As part of the MOU, Ntakumbana has requested the college to train ten women who will be chosen from various local municipalities in the district.
The first intake will come from the Tokologo and the Tswelopele Local Municipality. Accommodation will be provided for learners from afar.
Learners of the first intake commenced with their training this week.
“These women will be empowered with entrepreneurial skills to run well-oiled small businesses in the district,” says Khaya Mqeke, Lejweleputswa’s communications manager.
“The Goldfields TVET College aims to incentivise and promote innovation.”
After the meeting on Friday (11/08) at the Tosa Campus in Welkom, those involved joined the Letsema Campaign, which was conducted outside the premises.
Members of the community joined in to support the campaign.
“The campaign is part of a drive to accelerate service delivery in the district.
“The Lejweleputswa District Municipality delegation led by Ntakumbana got their hands dirty by cleaning the most dirty area,” says Mqeke.
