Gus Bernhardt, Riebeeckstad:
On Friday, 19 July, I phoned the Welkom Post Office to enquire about a parcel sent to me from overseas.
The phone was answered nearly immediately, by a male clerk, and after greeting politely, he enquired how he could be of assistance. I explained to him the nature of my query, and after taking my details, he promised to phone me back.
After about ten minutes I received a call from the clerk,(alas, I cannot recall his name), and in perfect Afrikaans he told me that the parcel was there, and I could pick it up at my own convenience.
On arrival at the post office, I was attended to by a lady by the name of Dimakatso Maile. She greeted me politely, with a smile, and asked me what the nature of my business was.
After telling her I was there to collect an overseas parcel, she asked for the necessary details, and went to retrieve the parcel.
After approximately five minutes, our business was concluded, and with a smile she bade me farewell, and wished me a great day.
The two clerks who were involved in my quest were absolutely great. Very professional and caring. Guys, you made my day! Friendliness costs nothing, yet your kind are very scarce in today’s society.
Kea Leboha!
