Perturbed resident, St Helena:
This house on the corner of Naude and Othello Street in St Helena, Welkom, (95 Naude) has caught fire on two separate occasions.
After the second fire, the occupant(s) left. It appears to have been abandoned by the owner.
Apart from the obvious eye-sore, which must impact on the value of surrounding properties, it is also being used by vagrants as a place to live and sort and dump rubbish. It therefore poses not only a serious health risk, but is also a potential crime hotspot.
This situation has been reported on several occasions, but it would appear that nothing has yet been done.
Hopefully this letter will highlight the situation and spur the responsible agencies into action.
