The Welkom-born and bred Serame Phakisi is the voice of the disabled in the local community.

Phakisi is from Oppenheimer Park, Thabong. He is disabled but still strives to assist his community as best he can.

He attended the Orion School, where he took part in numerous extra mural activities, including choir, athletics, running the 200 m and 400 m track, and short put.

He furthered his studies at a Welkom college, pursuing a future in Civil engineering. However, he dropped out.

In 2020 he opened the Embrace Ambition organisation, a non-profit organisation (NPO), after realising that, especially at the disability center, many children come from disadvantaged backgrounds and are in need of assistance.

He took it upon himself to help with the assistance of the disadvantaged and disabled youths with essentials, working with the Lukamase Disable Multipurpose Centre.
